Many people are afraid to fly. Here are just a few reasons why:
-It feels out of control to be so high in the air,
-you are not the one driving
-when that door closes, there is no opening it
-when you are stir crazy from cabin fever, the plane will not land on your command.
If you have anxiety, this seems unbearable.
It’s ironic how anxiety – something that has your energy flying – can keep you literally grounded. Many people avoid flying because they think it is NOT worth being that uncomfortable. Are you one of those people?
Because you are not alone. Twenty-five percent of Americans are afraid to fly.
Many years ago I used to be terrified of flying, avoiding it like the plague. Missing my cousin’s wedding, not going to workshops, and not even considering travel for the the fun of seeing new places.
Now I’m willing and able to fly all over the world! Do you want to know what changed my relationship to air travel and switched me from a white-knuckler to a worry-free traveler?
One ten minute practice. That’s it.
And when I got rid of this fear of flying, a lot of my other anxieties went away, too. Anxiety comes when you don’t trust yourself. Once I realized how I could trust myself, I knew how to apply it to any worry or challenge.
