Ready to create a sacred space in your home that supports your body and nurtures your soul? In this episode, we dive into the power of sacred spaces – how they can bring peace, intention, and healing into your life, and I’m joined by my dear friend, Asha Ramakrishna, to explore the magic behind them.
Asha, founder of the Modern Priestess School, share our experience with sacred spaces. Whether it’s a dedicated room, a small altar, or a special shelf, these spaces hold energy that can help us feel more grounded, supported, and connected. Asha shares how her childhood home was filled with intentional sacred objects and how that shaped her approach to creating altars today.
We also discuss the different types of altars you can create—whether for meditation, manifestation, relationships, or honoring loved ones—and how even the simplest intentional acts, like lighting a candle or placing a cherished object, can shift the energy in your home. I share some of my own altar practices, including how I’ve created spaces for writing, relationships, and even fun! Plus, we talk about the importance of cleansing and refreshing these spaces so they continue to support you in the best way possible. If you’re looking for ways to bring more meaning and peace into your everyday life, this episode is for you!

Key Takeaways on Creating a Sacred Space
🌿 A Sacred Space Supports Your Well-Being – Having a dedicated space for prayer or meditation can help lower stress and deepen your spiritual practice.
📍 The Location Matters – Choose a quiet, peaceful spot where you won’t be interrupted. Even a small corner can work!
🕯️ Meaningful Items Bring the Space to Life – Candles, crystals, spiritual symbols, or even a simple plant can add intention and beauty to your space.
🔄 Energy Clearing is Essential – Sage, incense, bells, or even opening a window can help keep your sacred space fresh and vibrant.
🙏 Use it Daily for Reflection & Peace – Whether it’s prayer, journaling, or deep breathing, making your sacred space part of your routine strengthens its power.

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Your Sacred Space
1. Choose a Space That Feels Right
Not sure where to set up your sacred space? Here are a few places that work well:
✅ A quiet corner of your bedroom
✅ A cozy nook by a window
✅ A small table or shelf in a peaceful area
✅ A space outdoors, like a garden or balcony
✨ Pro tip: Your space doesn’t have to be big! Even a small tabletop altar or a single cushion can create a meaningful sanctuary.
2. Clear the Energy Before You Begin
Before setting up your sacred space, take a moment to clear away any stagnant energy.
💨 Burn Sage or Palo Santo – Wave the smoke around the space with the intention of clearing negativity.
🔔 Use Sound – Ring a bell or play calming music to reset the energy.
🧹 Physically Clean the Area – Remove dust, clutter, and anything that doesn’t belong.
✨ Intentions matter! As you cleanse, set a thought like: “This space is a sanctuary of peace and healing.”
3. Select Items That Hold Meaning
This is where you make the space your own. Choose items that resonate with your spiritual practice and bring a sense of calm.
🔹 Candles – Symbolize light, guidance, and focus.
🔹 Crystals or Natural Elements – Represent grounding and energy flow.
🔹 Spiritual or Religious Symbols – A cross, a Buddha statue, an angel figurine—whatever aligns with your beliefs.
🔹 Sacred Texts or Affirmations – A journal, a book of prayers, or handwritten intentions.
🔹 Aromatherapy – Essential oils or incense for a calming atmosphere.
🔹 Fresh Flowers or Plants – Bring in natural beauty and vitality.
There’s no “right” way to do this—follow what feels good to you!
4. Create a Daily Ritual in Your Sacred Space
Once your space is set up, how do you use it?
🌞 Morning Intention-Setting – Start the day with a short meditation, prayer, or deep breathing.
📖 Journaling – Write down gratitude, affirmations, or reflections.
🙏 Evening Reflection – Take a moment to release stress before bed.
🎶 Sound Healing – Play soft music, chimes, or singing bowls to enhance the energy.
Even spending a few minutes each day in your sacred space can create a huge shift in your mindset and energy.
5. Keep Your Space Fresh & Aligned
Just like we change and grow, our sacred space should evolve too.
🔄 Swap out items as needed – Refresh flowers, change out affirmations, or add something new.
💨 Cleanse the space regularly – Keep the energy clear with sage, sound, or intention.
💖 Trust your intuition – If something doesn’t feel right anymore, remove it.
Creating a sacred space at home isn’t about perfection—it’s about intention. Whether it’s a simple altar, a meditation cushion, or a full room, the goal is to have a place that helps you feel connected, grounded, and at peace.I’d love to hear from you – what’s one item you would place in your sacred space and why?
