Why I Don’t Juice, Eat Raw, or Use Essential Oils

Why I don't juice, eat raw or use essential oils anymore

Today I am talking about why I personally don’t juice, eat raw or use essential oils anymore.

You can follow my example or not, that is really up to you.

Clear your mind of preconceived notions about juicing, eating raw and using essential oils, and ask your higher wisdom what the answer is for you.

For me, the answer is that I can do better. I can love and take care of my body by treating it as a temple. I can nourish and love it to heal it, not deprive it or mistrust it to heal it. If you eat raw, juice and use essential oils because you care about being “natural” and “healthy”, just see if what I am sharing here makes sense to you.

Juicing

Juicing is not natural. Nature gives us the sugars and the fibers in fruits and vegetables because they are meant to be eaten together. Juicing separates the sugar which you consume in the juice from the fiber that your body needs to digest the sugar and keep your digestion moving well.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are not pure and natural. EO companies can call them “pure” and “natural” because these are relative and not a definable terms. They are a small piece of a whole plant, extracted from the plant with a very unnatural process- adulterated. The essential oil of a plant is the volatile oil of that plant. Volatile means unstable. Used internally or externally, this is highly antibacterial and can adversely affect the hormones and good gut flora in your body. Your body has an incredible capacity to heal itself. Essential oils can get in the way of this process.

I know many people who swear by them. I used to be one of them. But at least we may agree that they may be overused if the assumption is that they are natural, pure and totally healthy.

Unnatural is not synonamous with evil. Allopathic medicines save lives, help acute problems and correct illness. I have heard of essential oils doing the same. However, I have personally stopped using EO altogether in favor of more whole plant remedies for vibrance maintenance as well as healing acute problems.

Here’s an article by Mary Kathleen Rose about the risks of essential oils.

Eating raw

Eating raw prevents you from getting all the nutrients you can out of the plants you consume. Our body cannot break down the very strong wall of a plant cell. If we break it down before we consume it, it would allow us to take in all of the vitamins and minerals. There are five ways to break down a cell wall.

  1. Freezing
  2. Drying
  3. Heating
  4. Oiling (Don’t use nut or seed oils because they are inflammatory.)
  5. Fermenting

I give examples of these in the video.

Trying to eat the majority of your plant-based food once it has gone through one of these five processes will give you more energy, more vibrancy, and heal many ailments caused by undernutrition.

I do enjoy raw fruits and vegetables, because I like them. But I make sure I don’t ONLY eat them!

When you hear this think about what seems logical and right to you. Go with your gut. This is a controversial video since it challenges some things many people have come to depend on as healing and transforming. Watch at your own risk!

  1. Interesting topic, Jodi. I don’t do any of these things either. I eat healthy and sometimes not so much. But I don’t like to deprive myself or else I will simply binge on what I’m craving. Exercise, water and lots of fruits and veggies along with some of my favorite snacks seem to work well. I like your advice to have faith in your body that it will heal itself.

  2. Wow, this was so interesting! I had no idea. I personally don’t eat raw (except salads, which I always have some kind of oil in the dressing) and I have never done juicing. I sniff some lavender once in awhile to try to get calm, or put it into my bath, but not often. I’m so glad to know I have not missed out on all the supposed benefits you read about these days. Great video Jodi!

  3. Jodi-

I watched your video first from YouTube, before coming here. I was glad to find that although I do follow some of these trends a bit- I’m following them more in the way you suggest. Please note- I’m prediabetic, and my nutritionist is also my ED counselor, so some of my decisions have a LOT to do with that! I’m also the family cook- Cimmorene (@wavemistress) is the baker, so I do make most of the food choices as a house husband.
